Marie Kennedy’s background is in hospital administration, firstly in Medical Records in Belfast City Hospital and laterally in Clinical Coding in Royal Jubilee Maternity Service totalling over 40 years’ service.

She was a Chaplaincy Volunteer for two and a half years and was appointed to a chaplaincy post in Royal Victoria Hospital in November 2020.

Marie attended the Lay Hospital Visitor’s Course at Edgehill College in September 2018 and completed a Certificate in Healthcare Chaplaincy at The Maryvale Institute in Birmingham in November 2019.

Marie is married to Kevin and they have four sons. They are active members of their parish.

She is a member of a community choir, enjoys cycling and walking, especially in Donegal.

She is very appreciative of the support given to her by the chaplaincy team in RVH and from NIHCA and feels very blessed and privileged to spend time with patients during their time in hospital.

Marie hopes to continue her personal and professional development and training to enhance and improve her role as a Lay Chaplain.
