Rev Jonny is a relative newcomer to the role of Hospital Chaplain which he took up in 2021, based in Antrim Area Hospital. Jonny has been ordained 10 years as a Church of Ireland minister and is currently the Rector of St John’s Ballyclare and Christ Church Ballynure. Before his calling to the ordained ministry, Jonny worked as an IT Consultant on major UK Government programmes based in England. God has given him a heart for both pastoral ministry and teaching. Jonny encourages his church family to reach out to those in need in the community, and has initiated a number of ministries in Ballyclare to support the most vulnerable in our society.

Whilst there is much blessing from parish ministry, Jonny feels incredibly privileged in his role as hospital chaplain which provides a wide opportunity to be with people of faith and no faith who need to know the presence of God in times of need.

Jonny is married to Alison who is a senior manager in the Health Service. They have 2 teenage boys, a lazy lab and a mad pointer which make for a busy house. Family holidays are a great relaxation and a chance to unwind from busy parish life. When Jonny is not occupied by ministry, he enjoys switching off and playing golf (badly). His greatest passion however is his deep love of Man City.

Jonny sees it as a huge privilege to serve God on the NIHCA Executive Council, and will bring much enthusiasm and energy to the role.
